Richard Murray
Director
Richard is responsible for the establishment and management of the Energy and Sustainability Division at Drees & Sommer UK.
He joined from Edmund Kirby in 2007, where he was an established partner, coming in to lead the Liverpool office of Building Surveyors.
In 2008, the energy and sustainability team was set up as an offshoot of our building surveying division providing energy modelling, funding advice, compliance, BREEAM and project support. Since then, the team has grown into a separate division with an ever-increasing number of services including zero carbon/carbon management plans, SKA assessments, ESOS, SECR and Measurement and Verification Plans to name a few.
He works closely with clients and contractors to deliver complex energy and utilities schemes across the UK and is a dual qualified Chartered Environmentalist and Chartered Building Surveyor.
Richard has a very wide range of experience across both the built environment and building services: he is a CIBSE Low-Carbon Consultant, CIBSE Heat Networks Practitioner, a CIBSE ESOS lead auditor, a Non-Domestic Energy Assessor, and a Public Building Energy Assessor.
Richard is a proud Welsh National and native speaker. He has supported the national football team through many international competitions.
In all the work Richard does he takes a very hands-on approach. He is focused on making sure his team deliver detailed reports and feasibility studies with the client in mind. Our expertise is there to bring our client’s vision into action, rather than creating a report that will just sit on a shelf.
Some of the key projects Richard has led include: University of Oxford Low Carbon consultancy, large residential scheme in north London, and MFT
